VEDIC ASTROLOGY

I am offering my obeisance to the lotus feet of  Gurudev, who gave me the seed of divine love for God.

Natal chart Jyotish

     Jyotish ( ज्योतिष ) is traditional Indian astrology system rooted in the Vedic-Puranic tradition. The shortest definition of Jyotish is “ Karma-phala-vipaka-kala-vidhanam ” / कर्म -फल -विपक - काल - विधानं, translated as knowledge to determine the ripening time of the fruits of the past actions. All our actions do not bear fruits instantly.  Some results can come immediately, while others can go beyond one human life.

    Vedic astrology studies the fruits of human actions and predicts possible events. Jyotish is translated as an "eye of wisdom", because this science carries the light of Vedic knowledge and belongs to Vedanga - one part of the Vedas. It gives an understanding of the existence of God, the soul and the idea of rebirth - that we live more than one life; that by performing an action we accumulate certain karma, and planets only “turn on” or put into action this inexplicable mechanism, understood by the word “karma”.

     Conceptually, Indian astrology has two branches:

1. Ganita ("Siddhanta"/astronomy);

2. Phalita ("Samhita"/country horoscope and "Hora"/individual horoscope).

     The practice of Jyotisha relies on the sidereal zodiac, which is different from the tropical zodiac, used in Western astrology, that an ayanamsa adjustment is made for the gradual precession of the vernal equinox. Jyotisha includes several specific sub-systems of interpretation and prediction with elements not found in western astrology such as the wheel of Nakshatras (lunar mansions)  and Vargas (division charts).

     When we look up in the sky we see myriads of stars that form a certain pattern at the birth of a person. When we are born, we receive our unique cosmic passport (our horoscope), but we do not understand that our whole life is written in heaven. The stars speak to us, point out to a certain route or direction. They are our teachers and friends on the path of understanding our true nature.

    We live in an era of post-modernism, where our gaining power intellect doubts almost everything. People have stopped to believe, they go through life either empirically or through obtaining knowledge. The world of science made a breakthrough into the subatomic world trying to find a definition for consciousness. But all these attempts are from the mind, which can never comprehend what is beyond all concepts, beyond matter, what is the source of everything. Astrology helps to realize that this world is controlled by the God, and we really don't have the knowledge for It, living in our own logic, accumulating and protecting what we consider to be our own. The true message of the planets helps us to open up to the new perception free from the ideas of exploitation, greed, anger emanating from our false ego and the idea that "I am the center of the universe".

     Being engaged in Vedic astrology, I never stopped to be amazed by its beauty, depth and integrity. As Newton once gave a comparison: as if you walk on the shore of an endless ocean of knowledge collecting small pebbles of it, feeling nearby all the power and greatness of this boundless ocean of wisdom. When I first built my horoscope, I did not suspect that this small square contains my whole life: past, present and future, my individuality and my destiny.

      My strong intention is to empasize that Vedic astrology is a real science based on the ancient texts, or scriptures and definitely mathematic calculation and it has nothing to do with clairvoyance and magic. Some Indian universities even give higher degrees in astrology. This science is also unthinkable without deep research, because they allow us to see certain nuances of the time we now live.

      Jiyotish is a deep, honorable discipline that can be applied in your personal life for growth and development, for planning certain events, improving your own efforts and advancing on the spiritual path. A person comes to an astrologer prompted by his "dive", or his fate, he seeks answers and the answer is recorded in the stars. By virtue of astrology he learns to accept his/her conditions in life, understand his dharma.

      I am grateful to my Jiyotish Guru Indubala Devi Dasi, who passed this knowledge from heart to heart and I want to bring the light of this knowledge to others.

     I am infinitely grateful and bring my obeisances to my Gurus - Srila Bhakti Sevan Hrishikesh Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Bimal Avadhut Maharaj for their mercy and wisdom, to all Great sages, Mahajans, who left this Jyotisha heritage to us. Let this Knowledge help the people on their spiritual path.
